Periodontal regeneration surgery at the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show 2018
The organisers of the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show 2018 invite you to enjoy a presentation about the management of periodontitis by noted international speaker Dr Federico Moreno Sancho...
In the UK, periodontitis affects almost 50% of adults and 60% of those over 65 years. The range of periodontal diseases includes everything from simple gingival inflammation to serious disease that causes major damage to the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth. In the worst cases, patients lose their teeth. However, treatments are available to prevent the loss of teeth, such as regenerative surgical procedures that aim to restore lost periodontal structure and functional attachment through the regeneration of cementum, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone.
As periodontitis is a major public health problem, it is important for dental practitioners to remain up-to-date with ideas and concepts for treatment and management. Fortunately, there will be the opportunity to hear more on the topic from a leader in the field at the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show to be held in May 2018.
During the Show, Dr Federico Moreno Sancho will be giving a presentation about the treatment of teeth that have vertical bone defects through using regenerative surgery. Dr Moreno gained his expertise and knowledge in this area from his extensive surgical experience of advanced cases and the management of regenerative therapy for a large number of patients.
Since receiving his degree in dentistry in 2009 from the European University of Madrid, Federico has worked as a general dentist in mixed NHS and private practices. He has also obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Implant Dentistry from the Trafford General Hospital, Manchester, and completed specialist training in Periodontology at UCL’s Eastman Dental Institute. He is currently a Clinical Lecturer in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute and he works as a periodontist in the North West and London.
Dr Moreno will present his lecture from the Special Interest Theatre, entitled “Periodontal Regeneration: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, in order to introduce periodontal regenerative surgery to a wider audience. He adds:
“In my presentation, I will describe the biological principles of periodontal regeneration, as well as the rationale, indications and contraindications. I will also explore the techniques that are available and the patient-, tooth- and defect-related factors that can affect patient outcomes for periodontal treatment.
“The management of teeth with vertical bone defects often represents a challenge. However, these teeth may be successfully treated through sensibly planned regenerative surgery. I will illustrate, through clinical examples, the factors that most require careful assessment so that suitable cases can be identified for successful periodontal regeneration. In addition, I will consider the limits of what can be achieved with this type of therapy.”
To attend Dr Moreno’s presentation, don’t miss the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show 2018. It’s free for the whole team to attend, so save the dates today.
